Azam Jamil is currently Special Advisor to the CEO Hashoo Group, Professor of Practice at Iqra University and Program Advisor to Beaconhouse National University

He is a former Minister of State, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Tourism Coordination, Government of Pakistan and Chairman Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation. A certified CPD Life Coach he has more than 44 years of experience in Hospitality, Tourism, Management, Marketing, Operations, Peoples Management and Training & Development. With an illustrious career in the Hospitality and Tourism industry starting with Intercontinental Hotels in the mid-seventies and spanning well over 4 decades.

Azam has been responsible for spearheading some of the key projects and institutions that shape Pakistan’s tourism industry today. He has represented Pakistan at the World Travel Mart, London and the ITB Berlin for over ten years.

Educated at the Aitchison College and Burn Hall, he went on to gain higher a degree at the Karachi University and was ultimately sent to Cornell University by Intercontinental Hotels.

He has held numerous positions during his career, which include Chief Operating Officer of the Hashoo Education Division, Corporate Director for Sales & Marketing Serena Hotels South & Central Asia, Corporate Director Training and Development Serena Hotels South & Central Asia, and Senior Consultant for TEVTA Punjab, Akhuwat and Jaffer Brothers Ltd to name a few. He is one of the Country’s leading corporate trainers providing intervention in all forms of leadership and management skills. Hospitality training has been Azam’s forte and he has been responsible for equipping thousands to lead successful hospitality careers.

He was directly involved in the opening of hotels including the Islamabad Serena Hotel (a member of the Leading Hotels of the World) and Serena Hotels in Kabul and Dushanbe. The restoration of the Shigar and Khaplu Forts was undertaken by the Aga Khan Development Network which Azam was associated with. His most recent achievement with regard to the hospitality and tourism industry include the conception and execution of two gold standard hospitality schools under the Hashoo and Akhuwat banner. 

He received the Shigar Fort Restoration award from Virgin Airlines in London on behalf of Serena Hotels and became the first Asian to be elected to the Board of Best Western Colorado, USA

Besides being a hospitality veteran, is an internationally recognised, corporate trainer, life-coach, and motivational speaker. Working with firms such as Franklin Covey Pakistan, Jaffar Brothers, Nestle, Aga Khan University, Shaukat Khanum Hospital and numerous other corporate entities. He has also spoken to thousands of students of schools, colleges and universities across Pakistan.

He has also been a leading sportsman and was Pakistan’s national tennis doubles champion in the early 80’s representing the country at home and abroad.  He is also a qualified aviator.
